Expanding on "New Lighting Devices" at as-is.la gallery in 2018, Brian Zamora’s new exhibition, presented by BetterTomorrow.llc, features vivacious, brightly colored lighting composition with the use of resin-cast light sconces. Hard edges and geometric shapes from his previous pre-occupation are replaced with vibrant technicolor and playful blooms. Petal silhouettes are cast on the wall from a single light bulb each exuding outward cheerfulness. The “floral” arrangement projects joy, optimism and positivity; and one gets an overwhelming sense of hope and resilience even amidst turmoil — a motif that has been experimented in various forms and symbolism in art and popular culture. The sconces are produced in two different sizes, intersecting sculpture and functional design. Exploring a contradiction between decorative appeal and utilitarianism, Zamora’s new work occupies a space of convergence for art and practical design where the audience's access is widened, making the experience of contemporary art more illuminating and joyous
